More Interviews, and an Interesting Update!

Hello everyone, this week at TimeFireVR I started off slow. I spent a lot of time this week finalizing my interview questions. And I managed to get the majority of my interviews done. The interviews so far varied from 3 minutes, all the way to 20 minutes. If I feel what I acquired this week was not sufficient, then I may go back next week and do more interviews on top of what I still need to do. But I think the interviews that I have done went very well. But I feel like I had very mixed results, and I am curious to see how the rest of them turn out.

Also this week I spent a good deal of time working on unreal engine 4. I am basically just replicating tutorials online; however, it makes for very good practice. The individuals teaching the tutorial typically give a good explanation as to what they are actually doing, making my learning go by quicker. The purpose of me doing this is just for my own personal interest.

Furthermore, I also still plan to conduct a survey. However, as soon as I am finished with my interviews I will devote a lot more attention to it than I am now. Here is how I plan to conduct the survey as of now:
Characteristics of the test:
  • There will be a total of eight individuals attending.
  • I will be using 3 different types of VR Headsets:
Questions:
Who are you and what do you?
Before you came in today, did you have any interest in virtual reality or augmented reality?
Before you came in today, did you have any interest in video games?
Which Virtual Reality headsets did you use today?
(Ask them to rank each headset out of quality, comfort, performance, and practicality)
Would you buy a virtual reality headset? Which one?
If you bought a headset, what would you plan on doing with it?

Also exciting news, I believe my company will be releasing a demo/trailer for their game in development fairly soon. The name of the game is Hypatia, it is of course for VR. The game as I believe I have mentioned intends to be more educational and social than most games. Anyway, I am interested to see what they have in store to present and I will post a source to it as soon as I can.

Well that about wraps up what I have done this week. Next week I should be talking more about what the results of my interviews. And hopefully I can start planning for my survey. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Hi Griffin! For the game the company is planning on releasing, Hypatia, how would you compare it to other games you have had the experience to play or see? What makes the game educational and social? Also, I am very excited to hear how the survey planning goes! Keep me updated!

    1. Hey Pooja, this is directly from TimeFire VR website: "Timefire has been busy for the past year building the first city to rise in Virtual Reality – we call it Hypatia. This new world will be collaborative, social, educational, and fun. Walk down our cobble stone streets and find a concert, stage play, shopping, or read a holographic book by the canal. From theaters and museums to exotic hidden surprises, Hypatia will alight your senses."

    1. Definitely, some sort of videogame and a 360 video most likely will be used. But I will get some advice from my co-workers as to what would be best.
